Naval Special Warfare
From the frogmen who blew the obstacles at Normandy to the operators who execute the most classified missions on earth, Naval Special Warfare is the tip of the spear. The lineage runs through the Underwater Demolition Teams of World War II, the SEAL platoons of the Mekong Delta, and the teams that have deployed continuously since September 11, 2001. SEa, Air, Land — the United States Navy SEALs.

They suffered 52% casualties in the first hours. The men who cleared the way at Normandy became the foundation of every Naval Special Warfare unit that followed.

Underwater Demolition Teams swam onto enemy beaches in nothing but swim trunks, fins, and a Ka-Bar to chart obstacles and blow lanes for the Marine amphibious assault. From Kwajalein to Okinawa, UDT frogmen cleared the way for every major Pacific landing. Their reconnaissance of Iwo Jima's beaches — swimming to within yards of Japanese positions — remains one of the most dangerous missions of the war.
