U.S. Air Force

"Aim High ... Fly-Fight-Win" -

The United States Air Force (USAF) is the aerial warfare service branch of the United States Armed Forces and one of the seven American uniformed services. It is the most recent branch of the U.S. military to be formed, established in September 1947. The U.S. Air Force has its roots in the formation of the Aeronautical Division of the U.S. Army Signal Corps in 1907. After World War I, the Army created a separate air arm, the U.S. Army Air Service, in May of 1918. I

In 1926, the Army Air Service was reorganized and renamed the U.S. Army Air Corps. In 1941, the Air Corps was renamed the U.S. Army Air Forces, and in 1947, it became the U.S. Air Force. The Air Force's mission is to fly, fight, and win in air, space, and cyberspace. The Air Force has four core functions: air and space superiority, global attack, rapid global mobility, and personnel recovery.

Since its inception, the Air Force has been involved in dozens of conflicts, from the Korean War to the Vietnam War to the Gulf War and the War on Terror. The Air Force has also been heavily involved in space exploration and defense, with astronauts and satellites playing an increasingly important role in the military's operations. The Air Force has also been a leader in drone technology, using unmanned aerial vehicles for reconnaissance, surveillance, and attack missions.
