4th Battalion, 10th Marines Merchandise

4th Battalion 10th Marines (4/10 Marines) is a proud unit in the history of the United States Marine Corps. The battalion was formed in April 1941, just before America entered World War II, and has served the country until the end of the 1980s. Throughout its existence, 4/10 has been called upon to serve in some of the most critical moments in the country's history.

The battalion's first major engagement was at the Battle of Tarawa, where it provided crucial artillery support to the 2nd Battalion 6th Marines. Despite arriving on the last day of the battle, the Marines of 4/10 played a significant role in the final assault that secured the islands of the Tarawa Atoll. After Tarawa, the battalion returned to Hawaii for rest and training before being sent to the Battle of Saipan.

4/10 was also called upon during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962. As tensions between the US and the Soviet Union escalated, the battalion was sent to Cuba in case hostilities broke out. The Cuban Missile Crisis was a pivotal moment in the Cold War, and the readiness and professionalism of the Marines of 4/10 played a crucial role in avoiding an all-out conflict.

After almost 50 years of dedicated service, 4/10 was deactivated for the final time in 1989. Although the battalion is no longer active, its legacy lives on. The Marines of 4/10 served their country with distinction, and their contributions to America's history will never be forgotten. Today, the battalion remains in an inactive status, but its spirit and tradition continue to inspire Marines around the world.
