4th Battalion, 10th Marines

Unit Lineage

The 4th Battalion, 10th Marines was an artillery battalion that served with the 10th Marine Regiment under the 2nd Marine Division. Based at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, 4/10 provided direct fire support for the division across multiple conflicts. The battalion has been deactivated. During its active years, 4/10 served alongside the infantry regiments of the 2nd Marine Division from World War II through the Global War on Terror.

Service History

4/10 provided artillery support during the Pacific campaign of World War II and continued serving through the Cold War and into the modern era. The battalion's batteries deployed with Marine Expeditionary Units and Regimental Combat Teams across the Mediterranean, Caribbean, and Middle East. Elements of 4/10 participated in operations in Iraq and Afghanistan during the Global War on Terror, providing fire support and serving as provisional rifle companies when required.
