CONSTRUCTION
Prime BEEF was created in 1964 to provide rapidly deployable civil engineering capability for Vietnam. Teams rotated on 90-day cycles to build and repair air bases across South Vietnam and Thailand. They constructed revetments, bunkers, and facilities while bases were under mortar and rocket attack. The program proved that Reserve and Guard CE units could rapidly integrate with active duty forces. That model remains the foundation of Prime BEEF today.

Modern Prime BEEF is central to Agile Combat Employment. Teams train to rapidly open austere airfields, repair damaged runways with AM-2 matting, generate power, purify water, and establish minimum operating strips in contested environments. In the Pacific theater, Prime BEEF exercises practice standing up distributed operating locations across island chains. Multi-capable airmen cross-train in multiple CE skills so smaller teams can accomplish more with fewer people. The next fight will depend on Prime BEEF more than any conflict since Vietnam.
