There is no homecoming story for USS Amberjack (SS-219). This Gato-class submarine was lost during operations in the Solomon Islands, and her crew never returned. Lost February 16, 1943, depth charged by Japanese patrol craft off Rabaul. All 72 crew perished. Completed 3 war patrols.
