USS Anchorage (LSD-36) was The USS ANCHORAGE (LSD-36), the first of the Anchorage-class dock landing ships, was commissioned on 15 MAR 1969. Built by Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi, USS ANCHORAGE was assigned to the Pacific Fleet Amphibious forces and began her service life with deployments to the Western Pacific and the waters of Vietnam.
