USS Bass (SS-164)

USS Bass (SS-164) was one of the V-boats, the experimental submarine designs of the 1920s that helped the U.S. Navy define what it needed from future fleet submarines. Though not the war-winning designs that followed, the V-boats provided essential operational experience and engineering lessons.
