USS Baton Rouge (SSN-689)

USS Baton Rouge (SSN-689) represents a milestone in the evolution of American undersea warfare. Baton Rouge was an early Los Angeles-class submarine. In February 1992, she collided with a Russian Sierra-class submarine near Murmansk, one of the few confirmed underwater contacts between American and Russian submarines during the Cold War's final years.
