USS Bonefish (SS-223)

USS Bonefish (SS-223), a Gato-class fleet boat, belongs to the roll of submarines that departed on war patrol and never returned. Lost June 18, 1945, depth charged in Toyama Wan, Sea of Japan. All 85 crew perished. One of the last submarines lost in the war. Our USS Bonefish collection exists to ensure her crew is not forgotten. Each item is a tribute to the submariners who climbed down the hatch knowing they might not climb back out. Built for submarine veterans, their families, and everyone who honors their sacrifice.
