USS Dorado (SS-248)

USS Dorado (SS-248), a Gato-class fleet boat, belongs to the roll of submarines that departed on war patrol and never returned. Lost October 12, 1943, likely sunk by friendly fire from a U.S. aircraft in the Caribbean during her transit to the Pacific. All 77 crew perished before completing a single war patrol.
