USS Drum (SS-228) delivered results that placed her among the most effective combat submarines of the Second World War. USS Drum was the first submarine to sink a Japanese combatant ship, torpedoing the seaplane tender Mizuho on May 2, 1942. She completed 13 war patrols and is preserved as a museum ship at Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile, Alabama.
USS Drum survives today as a museum ship, one of the few places where anyone can experience the cramped reality of wartime submarine life. Our merchandise collection is designed for the veterans, families, and visitors who want to carry that experience with them.
