Unit history
The record of USS Gato (SSN-615) reflects what nuclear submarines have meant to national security. The nuclear Gato carried the name of the most consequential submarine class in American naval history. Her WWII predecessor (SS-212) was the lead ship of the class that devastated Japan's merchant marine. The nuclear Gato served as a Permit-class attack submarine during the Cold War.
Our Gato collection speaks to anyone connected to the submarine force. Whether you qualified on her, served alongside her, or supported someone who did, this gear carries the heritage of nuclear submarine service.
