USS Guardfish (SSN-612)

In the history of the nuclear submarine force, USS Guardfish (SSN-612) occupies a significant position. The nuclear Guardfish carried the name of her WWII predecessor (SS-217), one of the top-scoring boats of the Pacific war with 19 confirmed kills. The nuclear Guardfish served as a Permit-class attack submarine during the Cold War.
