USS Gudgeon (SS-211)

USS Gudgeon (SS-211) never came home. This Tambor-class submarine sailed into the Pacific and gave everything in the fight against Japan. Lost around April 18, 1944, likely to combined air and surface attack near Maug Island. All 79 crew perished. She was the first U.S. submarine to sink an enemy warship in WWII.
