USS Indianapolis (SSN-697)
"Semper Fortis"
USS Indianapolis (SSN-697) represents a milestone in the evolution of American undersea warfare. The nuclear Indianapolis carried a name of profound significance in naval history. Her predecessor, the heavy cruiser CA-35, delivered components of the first atomic bomb to Tinian in July 1945, was torpedoed by Japanese submarine I-58 on the return voyage, and sank with the loss of approximately 900 sailors in the Navy's worst single-ship disaster at sea.
Our USS Indianapolis collection is designed for the sailors who served aboard her and the families who supported them through deployments they often couldn't discuss. Every item carries the authentic heritage of a nuclear submarine and the crew who took her to sea.
