Unit history
USS Memphis (SSN-691) deployed as a Los Angeles-class nuclear attack submarine, the workhorse of the American submarine force from the 1970s through the 2020s. LA-class boats were built to be fast enough to escort carriers, quiet enough to hunt Soviet submarines, and versatile enough to adapt as the strategic environment shifted from Cold War to global operations.
For the crews who served aboard USS Memphis and the families who kept the home fires burning through long and silent deployments, this collection carries real meaning. Built by veterans for the submarine community.
