USS Ortolan (ASR-22) — Pigeon-Class Submarine Rescue Vessel
USS Ortolan (ASR-22) was a Pigeon-class submarine rescue vessel commissioned in 1973. Sister ship to Pigeon, she carried the Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle and maintained submarine rescue readiness for the Atlantic Fleet. Ortolan also supported saturation diving missions and deep-ocean recovery operations throughout her career.
