Unit history
Commissioned as a Gato-class submarine, USS Pompon (SS-267) joined a fleet of boats that fundamentally changed the balance of power in the Pacific. The Gato-class displaced approximately 1,525 tons surfaced and carried 24 torpedoes, making them formidable commerce raiders capable of strangling Japan's maritime supply lines.
The USS Pompon collection exists because every boat in the fleet carried a crew that deserves to be remembered. Our apparel and memorabilia are designed for the submarine community, military families, and anyone drawn to the authentic history of undersea warfare.
