USS Runner (SS-275)

The Gato-class submarine USS Runner (SS-275) departed for the North Pacific and never sent another transmission. Her loss is part of the steep price the submarine force paid in the Pacific. Lost sometime between May 28 and July 4, 1943, cause unknown but likely a mine between Midway and Hokkaido. All 78 crew perished. Our Runner gear honors a boat and crew who paid the highest price.
