Unit history
Carrying the Tench-class designation, USS Runner (SS-476) was part of the last generation of American fleet submarines designed for the Pacific war. Many Tench-class boats were completed too late for combat but proved their worth during the Cold War, receiving GUPPY modifications that extended their service lives well into the nuclear age.
The Runner collection brings this submarine's service record to life through apparel and memorabilia built for submarine veterans, active duty crews, and military families. Every item is a connection to the real history of American undersea warfare.
