USS Safeguard (ARS-50) is the lead ship of the Safeguard-class, the current rescue and salvage ships in U.S. Navy service. Commissioned in 1985, she carries deep-sea diving teams, heavy salvage gear, firefighting equipment, and ocean towing capability. Safeguard has responded to maritime emergencies across the Pacific Fleet for four decades.
