Among the Sargo-class submarines that fought in the Pacific, USS Seawolf (SS-197) stands out for the quality and impact of her war record. USS Seawolf completed 15 war patrols, one of the highest patrol counts in the submarine force. Tragically, she was sunk by friendly fire on October 3, 1944, when a U.S. aircraft bombed her near Morotai despite recognition signals. All 83 crew and 17 Army passengers perished.
We built the USS Seawolf collection for submariners and their families. Every piece reflects the operational excellence and crew dedication that defined this boat's service.
