USS Shark (SSN-591)

In the history of the nuclear submarine force, USS Shark (SSN-591) occupies a significant position. Shark was a Skipjack-class nuclear submarine. She carried the name of two earlier submarines — the P-class SS-174 lost with all hands in 1942, and the SS-314 lost in 1944. The nuclear Shark served during the Cold War as part of the fast attack submarine force.
