USS Spikefish (SS-404)

USS Spikefish (SS-404) was a Balao-class submarine, an improved design that gave American submariners a stronger pressure hull and greater depth capability than the preceding Gato-class. Balao-class boats could dive deeper under depth charge attack, a survivability advantage that proved critical in the increasingly intense anti-submarine warfare environment of the later Pacific war. We built the USS Spikefish collection for people who understand what a hull number means.
