USS Stickleback (SS-415)

The Balao-class submarine USS Stickleback (SS-415) departed for the Hawaiian waters and never sent another transmission. Her loss is part of the steep price the submarine force paid in the Pacific. Lost May 28, 1958, after colliding with the destroyer escort USS Silverstein during an ASW exercise off Hawaii. The crew was rescued but the submarine sank in over 1,800 fathoms.
