USS Texas (SSN-775)

In the history of the nuclear submarine force, USS Texas (SSN-775) occupies a significant position. Texas was the second Virginia-class submarine. She was the first submarine to use photonic masts instead of traditional periscopes, eliminating the need for a hull penetration through the pressure hull and allowing the control room to be located anywhere in the boat.
