The story of USS Trout (SS-202) is written in silence. A Tambor-class submarine deployed to the Western Pacific, she was lost with her crew during World War II. Lost around February 29, 1944, likely depth charged in the Philippine Sea. All 81 crew perished. Early in the war, she had evacuated gold and silver from Corregidor.
