Unit history
USS Tuna (SS-203) was a Tambor-class submarine, representing a key step in the evolution of American fleet submarine design. The Tambor-class was the immediate predecessor to the Gato-class and introduced the design philosophy of 10 torpedo tubes and extended patrol range that would define American submarine operations throughout the war.
Every item in our USS Tuna collection represents a connection to the submarine force and the crews who made these boats legendary. Designed by veterans for veterans, family members, and historians who refuse to let these stories fade.
