Unit history
USS William H. Bates (SSN-680) earned a place in submarine history that endures. William H. Bates was a Sturgeon-class submarine named for the Massachusetts congressman who championed nuclear submarine development. She served during the Cold War's most intense period of undersea competition with the Soviet Navy.
Our USS William H. Bates collection is designed for the sailors who served aboard her and the families who supported them through deployments they often couldn't discuss. Every item carries the authentic heritage of a nuclear submarine and the crew who took her to sea.
