It started over taxes and ended with a country. Between 1775 and 1783, farmers, blacksmiths, fishermen, and shopkeepers took on the most powerful army on earth and won. Lexington. Bunker Hill. Trenton. Saratoga. Valley Forge. Yorktown. Eight years of marching, freezing, starving, and bleeding for an idea that had never been tried at scale: that a country could belong to the people who lived in it. They paid in blood, powder, and shoe leather. We got the receipt.
